The internationally famous Lesant Siamese and Oriental cattery relocated (in May 2005) from the United Kingdom to the United States. We will continue to breed pure British blood lines. Our kittens are available for shipment throughout North America as well as to the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, the Mid-East and South America. Our litters will continue to be registered with the G.C.C.F. in the United Kingdom as well as the C.F.A., T.I.C.A., A.C.F.A, A.A.C.E. and U.F.O. in the United States. Our prefix (Lesant) is currently registered with the G.C.C.F., C.F.A, T.I.C.A., A.C.F.A, A.A.C.E., and U.F.O.
We have been awarded the CFA 'Cattery of Excellence', TICA 'Outstanding Cattery Certificate' and ACFA 'Cattery of Distinction'.
We have been showing Siamese cats since 1983 and breeding since 1984. In 2001 we added Orientals to our breeding program and in 2002 produced our first Blue Eyed White Oriental Shorthair or Foreign White. This kitten, at the age of 16 weeks, was awarded Best Oriental in Show over an existing Grand Champion. He, G.C.C.F. UK Grand Premier Lesant Francisco Goya, has proved to be virtually unbeatable and is (in our opinion) the best Foreign White neuter in the UK. His brother (from a second repeat mating) G.C.C.F. Premier Lesant Pablo Picasso is hot on his heels. We have continued to breed (exceptionally white) show winning White Oriental Shorthairs/Foreign Whites (sometimes known as White Siamese) and in 2004 successfully added Havanas (known as Chestnut Oriental Shorthairs in the USA) and Oriental Lilacs (Lavender Oriental Shorthairs in the USA) to our breeding program. We are hoping to introduce Oriental Cinnamon and Oriental Blacks/Ebony Orientals very soon.
We have spent many years studying genetics and pedigrees in order to develop the Lesant bloodlines. We have a data base of over 60,000 UK Siamese and Oriental pedigrees going back as far as the 1860s. We hope to develop a similar American database and until we have that kind of background to research American bloodlines, we will not add any American cats to our cattery.
Lesant cats are renowned for being large, healthy, beautiful cats with exceptionally loving, affectionate temperaments. They are known not only for their beauty, excellent type and perfect color but also for their exceptional personalities. Lesant cats are bred to be shown! They enjoy the crowds and being handled and because they are so well socialized and affectionate, they make ideal family pets. Due to their incredibly good temperaments we have a considerable amount of 'repeat' business with some families owning as many as four Lesant cats. While all our kittens and cats are 'show' quality we sell approximately 99% of them as pets. Not everyone wants to show cats, but anyone who wants to buy a cat or kitten wants one that is healthy, beautiful and which will be a loving companion.
Our Siamese breeding program concentrates on perfect Lilac Points, pale milk Chocolate Points and stunning Seal Points. Our personal preference is for solid point Siamese. We do not breed Red, Cream, Cinnamon, Caramel, Fawn, Tabby, Lynx or Tortie Point Siamese. We have chosen not to breed Blue Points because we fee that mixing Blue into our bloodlines might distort the incredible Lilac color we are able to produce. We only breed Blue Eyed White Oriental Shorthairs, never Green Eyed ones.
None of our cats are caged, except the stud cats which have to be confined due to spraying. All the 'girls' and kittens have free run of the house and sleep in our bed at night.
All our kittens are are sold with a 'spay/neuter' agreement and unless the kitten is neutered prior to arriving at its new home, we withhold registration papers until the new owner produces a letter from their Veterinarian that the kitten has been neutered. We guarantee the health of our kittens and will always buy back any kitten a new owner is not happy with. (Not once in 20 years of breeding have we had a single complaint. In fact we have tried to buy back several kittens and the owners refused.) Before going to their new homes our kittens have had all their injections except Rabies because we do not recommend giving it until they are six months old) have been wormed and have had a complete physical by our Veterinarian.
As you peruse our website you may be curious about the names we choose for our cats. Because we have had a long standing interest in, and love of art, we have chosen that as a permanent theme for our cattery. We name all our males after artists and our females after portraits of women. We hope you will enjoy our website and that you will find it both interesting and informative.
